Why You Must Assess Your Non-Reciprocal Relationships

April 5, 2024

I think majority of us have those relationships that drain us more than they fill us up, those habits that make us feel like we're stuck in a rut.

Whether it's alcohol, food, or personal connections, it's time to ask ourselves:

what are we really getting out of them?

I get it. It's easy to just coast along, to ignore the niggle in the back of your mind of discontent, to opt for the comfort of familiarity over the discomfort of change.

But here’s what I've learned the hard way—growth, whether it's physical, mental, or emotional, rarely happens in our cozy little comfort zones.

So, it's time to get real with ourselves. It's time to ask the tough questions—not with judgment, but with kindness and openness.

  • How do these things make us feel?

  • Are they adding value to our lives or dragging us down?

For me, it started with my marriage. It felt uncomfortable and unhappy, like trying to squeeze into jeans that are two sizes too small.

Then, I had to confront my drinking habits. Was I drinking to numb the pain, or was I truly enjoying it? Was it worth it?

And then comes the big question:

If I were to let go of these things, what would happen?

Sure, there'd be discomfort. Change is never easy. But I knew deep down that I'd feel better, have more time, make better decisions, feel happier.

And yet, I still hesitated.

Why? Because the short-term discomfort seemed too daunting. That's when I had to go deeper and ask myself:

Am I willing to endure short-term discomfort for long-term happiness?

It's not just about relationships and habits; it's about resistance to change in all aspects of life.

We resist working out

We indulge in unhealthy foods

We don’t drink the water we know we should

We tolerate toxic relationships—

all because it's easier than facing the unknown or there’s a perceived and self-imposed ‘difficulty’.

Here's the truth: If something in your life consistently makes you feel like shit, it's time to reevaluate.

You deserve better.

And you don't have to do it alone.

That's where I come in. As someone who's been there, done that (in some massive, life changing-course altering ways), I can help you navigate through the discomfort, make those tough decisions, and come out the other side feeling empowered and fulfilled.

What's holding you back?

Isn't it time to break free from the things that no longer serve you?

Reach out, and let's have a conversation. Trust me, you won't regret it.
