Trusting the Expansion: Moving Beyond Resistance & Into What’s Next

April 14, 2025

You know that tug?
That quiet—but undeniable—pull toward something more
More aligned.
More honest.
More you.

And then, just as quickly—boom. Resistance.

Fuck.

Your mind starts it’s mental gymnastics routine:
“What if this doesn’t work out?”
“Am I really ready for this?”
“What will people think?”

If you’ve ever stood at the edge of your next chapter and felt like closing the book, saying fuck it, instead of leaping forward, I get it.

This is the threshold of expansion—and it always comes with resistance.

Why Resistance Shows Up When You’re Growing

Let me be clear:
Resistance doesn’t mean you’re weak.
It doesn’t mean you’re lazy, or broken, or not “meant” for this.

It means you’re human.

Your nervous system is built to keep you safe—not successful. It loves the familiar. Even when the familiar is unfulfilling, outgrown, or quietly suffocating.

And so, when you’re about to invest in yourself, have the hard conversation, say yes to the opportunity, or choose growth over comfort—your brain hits the brakes.

Not because you’re not ready.
But because you’re finally becoming the version of yourself who is.

Expansion Feels Like Fear… Until It Feels Like Freedom

In the latest episode of The Deliberate Exchange podcast, I share my most recent experience about standing in this exact space:
A moment when I wanted to say no, to stay safe, to protect the outdated version of me that wasn’t quite ready to be seen.

But instead, I said yes. I chose expansion.
And what happened next was immediate: alignment, opportunities, clarity, and a deeper sense of personal power. One of those Let’s Fucking Go moments.

This is the same shift I guide my clients through—when they stop fighting the pull and start trusting it.
When they see resistance not as a stop sign, but as a signal that their next level is calling.

How to Move Through Resistance (3 Things to Try)

  1. Recognize Resistance as a Signpost
When fear rears its ugly head, ask: What if this is exactly the thing I need?

  2. Gather Evidence of Your Own Trust
Look at your past. When have you leapt before—and it led to growth? You have proof. Use it.

  3. Take One Aligned Step
Expansion doesn’t have to be dramatic. One intentional choice in the direction of your future self is enough to shift your entire trajectory.

How Chronic Stress Amplifies Resistance

One of the biggest roadblocks I see in my clients—especially all the high-achieving, heart-led women—is chronic stress.

It’s not always loud. In fact, it’s often so baked into daily life that it feels normal.

I need you to understand that, living in a constant stress state magnifies resistance. It makes every decision feel heavier. Every choice feel riskier. Every step forward feel like too much.

When your nervous system is already maxed out, your capacity to move toward growth is limited—not because you’re not capable, but because your body is trying to survive.

Chronic stress can show up as:

  1. Snapping at your partner or kids even though you don’t want to.

  2. Overthinking every.single. decision and second-guessing yourself constantly.

  3. Physical tension—tight chest, jaw, neck, shoulders, stomach.

  4. Lack of sleep or waking up exhausted, even when you’ve technically rested.

  5. Withdrawing or isolating because connection feels like one more demand on your energy that you do not have.

Sound familiar?

This is why it’s never just about mindset—I help my clients actually manage their stress in real, practical ways.
Breathwork. Nervous system support. Somatic tools. Deep mindset and pattern work.

Because you can’t outthink your way to a regulated, powerful life.

You have to feel your way there.
