How Would It Feel to Be Completely Proud of Yourself?

November 18, 2024

Imagine waking up each day feeling one hundred percent proud of yourself, filled with pure, unfiltered happiness. Imagine how that would shift the way you move through life.

Would it change how you show up with your loved ones, how you connect with strangers, or how you handle challenges? For me, the answer is a resounding yes. And while this kind of pride and happiness might seem distant, I promise you—it’s closer than you think.

When I worked in construction, I was constantly carrying the weight of feeling like an imposter, afraid others would discover I wasn’t as good as they thought. I questioned whether I deserved my role, my paycheque, or even my title. But every day, I slapped a smile on my face and showed up with this monkey on my back. Exhausting.

This fear followed me for years, casting a shadow over every decision and stealing my sense of worth and pride. And in some ways, I felt trapped.

Then, everything began to shift. I found my way to a life that genuinely fulfills me—one that feels meaningful and aligned with who I am.

Now, I help other high-performing women find that same sense of fulfillment. Here’s what I would do, After figuring it out the hard way, to help you start creating a life that feels like it’s truly yours:

Own Where You Are, Without Judgment
Start by honestly looking at your current feelings and struggles. Are there areas where you feel like you’re “faking it” or holding back? Write them down. Getting them out of your head and onto paper can relieve some of the weight. This isn’t about beating yourself up (remember, without judgement)  but about seeing where you need support. Give yourself compassion as you reflect—you’re here to change things, not to dwell on them.

What Fulfills You Beyond the External Success?
Sometimes, we chase external markers of success (titles, paycheques, recognition, validation) and forget about what genuinely makes us feel fulfilled. Take a few minutes to think about moments when you felt fully alive. Was it helping someone? Creating something? Learning a new skill? This is the essence of fulfillment. Get clear on these moments so you can lean into them more.

You Need To Prioritize Genuine Self Care
If you were like I was, you’re putting your own needs last or mailing it in on self-care. Start small—whether it’s creating five minutes for breath work, taking a walk, or saying “no” to something that drains you. These little actions add up and will help you reconnect with yourself. Self-care isn’t just a luxury; it’s how you recharge so you can keep showing up for others.

Celebrate Every Day
Imposter syndrome thrives when we downplay our accomplishments. Every day, take time to recognize a “win,” no matter how small it seems. Did you have a difficult conversation? Did you follow through on a commitment to yourself? These are wins worth celebrating. Over time, this practice can help you build a deeper sense of self-respect.

Community and Support Creates Momentum
Real transformation rarely happens alone. I know that I didnt start experiencing any kind of significant traction until I started working with my mentors and coaches.  Find spaces where you can share openly without judgment. A mentor, a coach, or community that aligns with your goals. When you share your struggles and wins, you’ll find that the journey feels lighter, and you’ll receive insights and encouragement to keep going.

I had a woman approach me at an event, saying she was drawn to the happiness she felt from my photo online. She wanted to know if what she saw in the photo was real - and it was.   She wanted to feel the way she saw me feeling—authentically happy, proud, and at ease. To get there needed real, effective tools to cope with her stress and emotions and I activated her to go get them.

The kind of energy I have now is magnetic.

It’s disarming.

And it’s real.

Years ago, I thought I’d be “successful” based on my paycheque, title, and the house I owned. Today, I know I am far richer than I ever dreamed. I’m rich in joy, in fulfillment, and in living a life that finally feels like mine.

If you’re struggling, if you feel stuck, or if you’re carrying fears that weigh you down, know this: there is a path to feeling proud, joyful, and fully you.

These steps are just the beginning. And if you’re feeling a pull for more, I’m here to help guide you toward the life you’ve always wanted.

Breathe it in, Be Deliberate, and choose happy.
