This is the most significant coaching moment of my career so far.

February 27, 2024

It wasn’t because I got paid a bunch of money.

Or landed a significant contract.

Or received lots of accolades.

This was with a five year old.

I know she’s watching me closely.

She wants to know what shoes I might be wearing so she can match.

She wants to wear her purse over her shoulder like I do.

She knows I get into a cold tub every day.

She trusts me.

She is absorbing everything.

It’s a significant opportunity that I get to teach her by leading,  by embodying the principles and practices I teach.

I will show her how to breathe through difficult times,

I will show her how capable she is,
I will remind her of how strong she is,

I will teach her to work through her fear.

When she came over on family day weekend, I suggested she bring her swim suit just in case.

She happily got in to her suit and we trudged outside.

She was scared.

Yet, she got in.

She immediately wanted out and was crying.

No problem. We dont push things too hard.

About ten minutes later she want redo. (Redemption is a powerful motivator.)

Out we went, back to the tub.

I reminded her of what it was going to feel like, what she might experience.

Most of all, reminded her to breathe.

She did.

Then she was smiling with teeth chattering.  Immediately becoming calm with the big breaths I was encouraging her to take.

She was in for 37 seconds and was SO PROUD of herself.

This, is why I do what I do.

I help women (and girls) develop resilience and uncover joy that might be otherwise buried under years of societal/familial programming, stress, fear, and uncertainty.

It’s my distinct opportunity to show women, rather than just tell, what’s possible for them.

What kind of example are you setting and what kind of example do you need in your life right now?
